Solution Architect
One way or another, I have been building solutions for many years, predominantly in the retail sphere. Growing up in a Swiss German household engrains a "do things right" work ethic, while subsequently reading law at the University of Cape Town taught me critical thinking.
Many years later the solutions are anchored by software. I have been involved in designing and bringing to market a range of automated equipment and cloud management systems for large Brand Corporates, subsequently project managing the integration into either Banking applications or Retail Chain POS platforms. The solutions have been deployed in South Africa, Italy, Germany, South Korea and New Zealand. All provided a strategic advantage - providing the client and brand involved with a step advantage.
Technology does not bring a new way of doing things, it evolves our way of working, easying our load.
Numbers and Inches
Because in either game, life or football, the margin is so small.
I mean one half step too late or too early - you don't quite make it.

Creating a Digital Store Twin
Digitalizing the Retail Floor: Live visibility of everything in the Store
Shelflink is designed as a Retail Floor Operating System which provides visibility of all floor operations within the store eco-system, including live stock movement through the store. App based - the digital platform immediately generates efficiencies, making the store more margin focused, staff more rewarded and information more readily available.

Getting High Risk Products back on Shelf:
Providing shoppers with the ability to shop for high theft risk products in the aisle siginificantly increases sales. The solution shows either the product or displays the options on a digital screen. Categories included Shaving, Sexual Health, Medicines and Baby Formula.

Dispensing from the Cash Slip
Dispense function integrated into a National POS system:
Integrating a dispensing capability into the POS and ERP system of a large South African Retailer required working with a range of different specialists both locally and internationally. The effort was worth it - the chain was able to stock more products and dispense from any Check Out, generating a QR code onto the till slip.

South African solutions into foreign markets
Cyprus:
A range of solutions to expand the Client's market range and reach was introduced to the On Consumption Market across Cyprus.
Switzerland:
Convenience sector counter top expansion - expanded product range and sales.
New Zealand:
Integrated the ANZ Bank Debit Card payment device to the product dispenser. Customers could use their EFTPOS cards to purchase products. Cloud management of replenishment cut operational costs while payment reconciliation was also automated.
South Korea:
Installation and training of the local team in down town Seoul against extremely competitive opposition. Over 1000 units deployed in 50 days to grab market share and lock out opposition in sites.

Constant feedback from the store
Automation generates Efficiencies and Data:
A range of automated dispensers all capable of passing information back to the Cloud and so facilitate more efficient refill and concurrently build a history that can be analysed for better performance. The equipment was the forerunner to full category solutions.
